The Solar Sunlite range of advanced & environmentally friendly solar water heaters consists of a variety of solutions to meet your requirements

Thermosiphon principle

The evacuated tube thermosiphon models are the most popular systems for hot countries. In this system the water fills the tubes, which in turn heat the integrated header tank by natural convention. These water heaters come in a range of tube sizes and systems ranging from 150 Liters to 300 Liters. These systems are quite straightforward and can be installed simply. Whilst we would normally install this system with an electrical controller, there is no requirement for electric power or controller.

How Thermosyphon Works

As the sun or UV rays shines on the solar water heaters, the water inside the evacuated solar tubes is heated. This water expands slightly as it is heated, and becomes lighter than the cold water in the solar storage tank.

There are basically 3 different types of solar water heaters to cater for your individual needs and situations.

Low Pressure Systems - Direct System - Model No. J180
Vacuum Tube Integrated Solar Water Heaters with manifolds and integrated water tanks

Compact evacuated tube systems

The evacuated tube thermosiphon models are the most popular systems for hot countries. In this system the water fills the tubes, which in turn heat the integrated header tank by natural convention (which can vary between 150 and 300litres). This system is quite straightforward and can be installed simply. Whilst we would normally install this system with an electrical controller, there is no requirement for electric power or controller.

These solar water heaters are very economical and maintenance free. They are generally supplied with integrated water tanks, which are mounted above the vacuum tube collectors. The low-pressure integrated models are gravity-feed systems which must be generally mounted on a roof at a point that is higher than the highest water inlet into the property.

These systems are particularly good for those who are not concerned with achieving a high water pressure supply. In any event, these systems can also be retro fitted with booster water pumps that will increase the water pressure in line with the mains water pressure.

Our solar water tanks come in luxurious highly polished stainless steel mirror finish, which are mounted onto lightweight and totally versatile stainless steel frames. These water heaters are ideal for both pitched and flat roof installations.

The main difference between this system and the integrated high-pressure system is that in this system, the water that is being supplied by the solar water heater is the same water that is being supplied to the household. In the high-pressure system (mains pressure), a separate cold water feed is supplied to the solar water heater. The water then travels indirectly through a copper coil heat exchanger that is present in the water tank. The heat is then transferred from the piping hot water that is present in the solar water tank to the copper coil.

How does it works?

This system works on the thermosiphon principle. An inlet feeds the water tank with cold water from the mains, water well or other supply from above. The water fist fills the tubes and then fills the water tank. When the solar water heater is subjected to sun of UV rays, the water inside the vacuum solar tubes heats up quite rapidly. As the water is heated inside the vacuum tubes, this water becomes lighter than the existing colder water present inside the integrated water tank. The colder water inside the top of the water tank (which is heavier and more dense) is then forced by gravity to travel down the inside of the evacuated tubes, forcing the lighter hot water inside the tubes to rise to the top of the integrated water tank.

The Benefits of this system are:

Mirror finish stainless steel outer tank (anti corrosive)
Food grade stainless steel inner tank (anti corrosive)
 Relatively Cost effective to buy
 Quite straightforward to install
Compact & Integrated solar water heater
Advanced and efficient water heating technology

Low Pressure Systems - Direct System - Model No. J190
Vacuum Tube Integrated Solar Water Heaters with manifolds and integrated water tanks

Compact evacuated tube systems

This is a specially designed solar water heater with an integrated sloping roof frame that has been specifically designed to make the solar water heater installation as discreet as humanly possible.

Just like model J180, this model is also an evacuated tube thermosiphon model with advanced heating properties. In this system the water fills the tubes, which in turn heat the integrated header tank by natural convention (which can vary between 150 and 300litres). This system is quite straightforward and can be installed simply. Whilst we would normally install this system with an electrical controller, there is no requirement for electric power or controller.

High Pressure Systems – Indirect system – Model J280
Vacuum Tube Integrated Solar Water Heaters with manifolds and Integrated water tanks

Compact evacuated tube systems

The Solar Sunite range of solar water heaters also come in a high, mains pressure integrated model. These advanced solar water heaters offer greater flexibility compared to the low pressure, gravity fed systems. The mains pressure hot water that is supplied from this system is equivalent to the same mains pressure that is being supplied to the property.

The fixed thermal store of hot water that remains in the solar water tank eliminates any problems of lime scale buildup. This prolongs the life of the system without the need for water treatment, itself inexpensive, but requiring the annual inspection and maintenance of the solar water heater.

This system works on the same thermosiphon principle as the low-pressure system; with he added benefit of achieving high mains pressure hot water supply from the system.

In this system an inlet feeds the water tank with cold water from the mains, water well or other supply. The water fist fills the tubes and then fills the water tank. When the solar water heater is subjected to sun or UV rays, the water inside the vacuum solar tubes heats up quite rapidly.

The main difference between this system and the gravity fed low pressure system is that in this high pressure system, the water that is being supplied by the solar water heater is being supplied indirectly through a copper coil heat exchanger that is present in the water tank. . The heat is then transferred from the piping hot water that is present in the solar water tank to the copper coil, giving a constant supply of hot water.

In this system, you would get a much smoother transfer of energy without the thermal shock associated with adding cold water to a depleting volume of hot water. In this system you would get a gradual decline in temperatures until the sun or UV rays again reheat the water.

Unlike the gravity fed, low pressure system, this solar water heater can be mounted anywhere, including the terrace or garden.

The Benefits of this system are:

Mirror finish stainless steel outer tank (anti corrosive)
Food grade stainless steel inner tank (anti corrosive)
 Excellent value for money
 Quite straightforward to install

Smoother transfer of energy associated with the copper coil heat exchanger inside the water tank
15 Years anti corrosion or perforate Guarantee on Solar Water Tank
15 Years anti corrosion or perforate Guarantee on stainless steel frame
15 Years life expectancy warranty on advanced vacuum tubes
55mm insulation between the inner and outer tank, resulting in excellent heat retention
